This 1956 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud is a right-hand drive, four-door saloon that was acquired by the seller out of Devon, England approximately 37 years ago and was subsequently imported to the US. It is finished in two-tone Shell Grey and Midnight Blue over a grey interior and is powered by 4.9-liter inline-six mated with a four-speed automatic transmission. The car underwent a repaint around two decades ago and is finished in two-tone Shell Grey and Midnight Blue. Features include chrome bumpers, front driving lamps, twin side mirrors, and a chrome exhaust outlet.
Steel 15” wheels wear polished covers with black rings and are mounted with 235/75 Michelin X Radial tires that should be replaced due to age. The brake master cylinder and a main seal on one of the rear shocks were reportedly replaced around two years ago. A three-spoke steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 110-mph speedometer and a combination gauge cluster with an inset analog clock. The five-digit odometer shows 83k miles.
The 4.9-liter inline-six features twin SU carburetors and an F-head configuration that incorporates overhead intake valves and side-mounted exhaust valves. Maintenance performed in preparation for the sale included a coolant flush and an oil change. The seller notes an intermittent misfire during warm idles.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a General Motors-sourced four-speed Hydra-Matic transmission, and the rear main seal was reportedly replaced in 2018.
