A cabriolet variant of the BMW 1600 with coachwork by Karosserie Baur in Stuttgart, Germany was first offered in 1967, and production carried over to the 2002 model after its introduction in 1971. This example was delivered from the factory in Polaris and refinished in its current shade of yellow during prior ownership, and the seller notes that previous corrosion repair is visible in the rear wheel wells. The black cabriolet roof consists of a removable panel over the front seats and a folding soft top rear section with a plastic window. Side marker lenses are mounted at all four corners, an auxiliary light is mounted to the left of the rear plate bracket, and Hella driving lights are mounted on the front bumper. An MK Motorsport sticker is affixed to the left side of the hood.
Steel 13” wheels wear polished covers with Roundel center logos and are mounted with 185/70 Goodyear Eagle GT tires.
The interior features blue vinyl upholstery on the seats and two-tone upholstery on the door panels. Equipment includes front and rear vent windows, a BMW-branded steering wheel and shift knob, and a vintage push-button radio that is inoperative according to the seller.
VDO instrumentation includes a 200-km/h speedometer and a five-digit odometer showing under 62k kilometers (~38k miles).
The 2.0-liter M10 inline-four is paired with a four-speed manual transmission. An oil change was performed in preparation for the sale.
