This 1979 Porsche 928 is said to have spent time in storage from 2004 to 2017 before being acquired in 2019 by Genius Garage Racing, who initiated a refurbishment that involved an interior re-trim and mechanical work. Work performed since 2022 included repairing the instrument cluster and servicing the air conditioning system as well as replacing the power steering pump, thermostat, and various brake and clutch components. The car is finished in black metallic over black leatherette with Pasha velour inserts and is powered by a 4.5-liter V8 paired with a five-speed manual transaxle. Further equipment includes 16″ phone-dial alloy wheels, pop-up headlights, fog lights, cruise control, and a push-button AM/FM stereo.
Finished from the factory Black Metallic (708), the car was repainted under prior ownership. Details include pop-up headlights with washers in addition to fog lights, power-adjustable mirrors, a locking fuel filler cap, and a rear window wiper. The taillights were refurbished and the left headlight bulb was replaced.
The 16″ phone-dial alloy wheels are mounted with 225/50 Continental Extreme Contact Sport tires with 2017 date codes. Braking is handled by power-assisted discs at each corner with red-finished calipers fitted up front. The power steering pump and brake pads and rotors were replaced, the brake master cylinder and booster were rebuilt, and the brake hard lines were refurbished.
The front bucket seats and folding rear seats are upholstered in black leatherette with replacement Pasha velour inserts, which extend to portions of the door panels. A replacement dash cap was retrofitted, and further appointments include air conditioning, cruise control, an analog clock, and a push-button AM/FM stereo. Work performed since 2022 has reportedly involved refurbishing the radio, replacing the ignition cylinder, repairing the climate control panel, and installing a rear-view mirror.
The leather-wrapped steering wheel frames a 170-mph speedometer, a 7,600-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges for coolant temperature, fuel level, oil pressure, and voltage. The six-digit odometer shows 33k miles.
The 4.5-liter V8 was factory rated at 219 horsepower and 254 lb-ft of torque. The water pump and timing components were replaced in 2017, and work performed since 2022 involved refurbishing the air conditioning system in addition to replacing the battery, thermostat, air intake hoses, and an alternator cable. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a rear-mounted five-speed manual transaxle. The transmission fluid was changed, the master cylinder, clutch release and pilot bearings were replaced, the flywheel was machined, and the right axle was rebuilt.
An owner’s manual and partial service records are included in the sale.
