This 1973 Land Rover 109 Series III is a left-hand-drive example built on December 13, 1972, that was delivered new in Ecuador, where it was reportedly used by the British embassy. It later spent time on a farm before being purchased by the seller in 2019 and imported to Canada in 2021. A refurbishment performed under current ownership in Ecuador included a repaint, an interior refresh, and service to the suspension, power-assisted brakes, 2.25-liter gasoline inline-four, and four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes a tropical roof with alpine windows as well as white 16″ steel wheels, sliding side windows, rear mud flaps, and three-point front seat belts.
Steel 16″ wheels are finished in white and are mounted with 6.50-16 Goodyear CHM189 tires. Braking is handled by power-assisted drums at all four corners. Refurbishment work is said to have included replacing brake drums, shoes, lines, the servo unit, and the shocks.
The interior is equipped with bench seating that’s been reupholstered in brown with matching dash trim. Sheetmetal surfaces are finished in the body color, and additional interior features include fresh air vents, replacement three-point front seat belts and sun visors, and inward-facing seating in the cargo area.
The black three-spoke steering wheel frames a 150-km/h speedometer and gauges measuring coolant temperature and fuel level. The five-digit odometer indicates 94k kilometers (~58k miles).
The 2.25-liter gasoline inline-four sends power to the rear or all four wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. The seller states the cooling system and carburetor were overhauled and that fluid flushes were performed for the transmission, transfer case, and differential. The seals for the engine and drivetrain were replaced, the wiring was repaired, and the battery and clutch replaced under current ownership.
