This 1980 International Harvester Scout II was acquired by the current owner in 2011, and subsequent refurbishment and modifications completed in 2020 included installing a replacement fiberglass body tub, repainting the truck in red, and installing disc brakes at all four corners, replacement shocks, and a custom red and black leather interior. Power is provided by a 3.3-liter turbodiesel inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case. A replacement fiberglass body tub was installed under current ownership, and the truck was repainted red in 2019. Features include a color-matched removable hardtop, a cowl hood, custom pinstriping on various body panels, a black-finished grille, a roof rack, a receiver hitch, and aftermarket LED headlights.
Aftermarket black-finished 15″ wheels are mounted with BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 tires with raised white letters. The front axle is equipped with manually locking hubs, and braking is handled by hydraulically power-assisted four-wheel disc brakes that were installed under current ownership. Additional work carried out during the refurbishment included rebuilding the steering box, installing a CPT front shackle kit, and replacing the wheel bearings and seals, spring bushings, steering shaft, and shocks.
The interior has been fitted with adjustable front bucket seats upholstered in red and black leather with International Harvester logos embroidered in the headrests, and the folding rear bench seat is upholstered to match. The refurbishment included the installation of sound and thermal insulation material, while additional equipment includes air conditioning, power windows, aftermarket cup holders, and a Custom Autosound AM/FM stereo.
The three-spoke steering wheel frames a horizontal 85-mph speedometer and gauges for coolant temperature, oil pressure, amperage, and fuel level. Additional instrumentation includes an under-dash tachometer as well as a column-mounted boost gauge and pyrometer. The five-digit odometer shows 92k miles.
The Nissan-sourced SD33T 3.3-liter turbodiesel inline-six was only offered for the 1980 model year in the US and produced approximately 108 horsepower when new. Refurbishment work reportedly included replacing the hoses and installing a Sanden air conditioning compressor.
Power is sent to the rear or all four wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and a dual-range transfer case that is said to have been overhauled under current ownership.
